Thanks for the interest! We are taking a break from CSA this season (2023-2024) to recharge our batteries.

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture, CSA for short, is similar to a veggie box subscription yet a little more significant. CSA offers a weekly share of organic produce to families that purchase a season long share.

By purchasing a share, you are forging a relationship with the farm and becoming a direct supporter of the local food economy.

In exchange for committing to a seasonal share, we are committed to providing nourishing and delicious vegetables along with recipes and food inspiration.

We loved being a part of Laughing Pukeko Organics CSA share this season, the value for money was incredible and the quality of the veges and fruit were impeccable.

As a household of just two adults it certainly increased our weekly vege intake and we both feel healthier for it. I believe it has had a positive effective on our mental wellbeing through increased nutrient intake fueling our brains and bodies.

The Major Details

  • 22 WEEKS: The 2021-2022 season is set to kick off mid-end November 2021. There will be two week break over the Christmas & New Years holidays.
  • 6-10 VEGGIES PER WEEK: We aim to provide between 6 and 10 different seasonal vegetables per week, freshly harvested from our farm. We grow over 40 types of veggies and strive to provide variety from week to week. At this stage, we are unable to accommodate custom shares, but can work with customers who have allergies/aversions to find a substitute.
  • We are offering two share sizes this season: $770/season = $35 / share per week (plus delivery) OR $550/season = $25 share per week. It's often difficult to steer families towards which share size would be best for your family. In general, the $35 share is a good fit for households of 2-4 people depending on how many vegetables you incorporate into your meals.
  • Pick up available from the BHU (Lincoln), otherwise delivered Monday or Tuesday, TBD.
  • Egg shares from our free range girls are available as an add-on! $220/season = $10/dozen OR $110/season = $5/half dozen for certified organic, free-range eggs.

The Minor Details

  • The share will be billed all at once. While it helps us to receive payment once for the course of the season, allowing us to focus our energy on growing & harvesting, we understand this may not be feasible for many people and therefore we can split the bill over several payments.
  • Each week you'll receive a newsletter with farm updates, recipes, inspiration, and veggie storage tips.
  • CSA members will be invited to a member-only end of season picnic on the farm.
  • CSA members are welcome to visit the farm anytime, upon arrangement.
  • We aim to grow 100% of whats in our box, but occasionally buy in produce from other local, organic farms to add variety or due to crop failure. We will always disclose this to our members.
  • Satisfaction is our aim! If you are dissatisfied with your membership or move out of town, please get in touch. We will issue a refund on a pro-rated basis.

Is CSA Right for Me?

While we would ultimately love to see all households purchase their weekly veggies directly from a farmer, we know it's not the right fit for every family. Ask yourself if these are important to you:

  • Do you see benefit in supporting local, organic farming?
  • Do you value forging a relationship with your farmer?
  • Will you support occasionally seeing ugly vegetables, or insects in your produce?
  • Do you have time to cook at least 3 times per week?
  • Are you adventurous in the kitchen?

If you said YES to most of these questions, we reckon CSA would be a good fit for you!
